We love your pets here at Island Gateway!

We have a special area with powered and unpowered campsites that is pet friendly. We can also provide information on how to enjoy the Whitsundays with your pet. Feel free to bring your pooch to Reception to be admired by our Reception staff!

Unfortunately, we don’t currently have pet friendly cabins or rooms, but a map of our Park showing our pet-friendly camping areas can be found here.

So that everyone has a great time, we ask that you keep your pet on a leash and pick up after them.  When checking in, just let Reception know that you’d like a pet friendly site. We will give you a ‘Pet Rules’ form to read and sign.   We have lots of curlews, rainbow lorikeets and other birdlife that make their home here, so please be aware of them when in the park with your pet.

Depending on the breed of dog, the number of dogs you are travelling with and the number of dogs already in the Park, we may occasionally turn down a reservation.

Pet friendly Whitsundays -more info for dog owners

There is a ‘leash free’ park just 200 metres from the park, further down Jubilee Pocket Road (a quick 3 minute walk); a map can be found here.  It has open space for them to run around as well as a fully enclosed area.  The council also provides plastic bags for cleaning up after your dog in this park and there are picnic tables, a BBQ and taps, public toilets and a playground.  Other leash free areas in Airlie Beach can be found here; there is also a list here of leash free areas throughout the Whitsundays.

Ideas for dog friendly walks can be found here.  We have contact details for a number of local pet-sitters, groomers and the local pet resort – just ask at Reception!

There is an excellent website (click here) which can show you which cafe’s, restaurants are pet friendly; where to stock up on pet treats and supplies, and a great list of dog friendly parks and beaches as well as local vets and more.
