Visiting Whitehaven Beach is a ‘must-do’ during your stay at Airlie Beach and the Whitsundays. When you see it, you’ll understand why it’s the most photographed beach in Australia.

Sink your toes into the famous white sands of Whitehaven Beach, voted one of the best beaches in the world.

The 7 km stretch of white silica sands and crystal clear waters is pristine. Spend the day on the beach or explore the beauty of Hill Inlet, a stunning cove at the northern end of the beach, where the tide creates swirling turquoise colours.

How to get there

There are no ferry services to Whitehaven Beach, so you’ll need to either book a day/overnight trip there, or go in your own boat.  Many companies offer day trips to Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet by ferry, power boat or yacht. Most overnight sailing trips also stop here.

Self-sufficient boaties and campers can anchor overnight off the beach, or book a national park campsite and camp on the southern end of Whitehaven Beach.

Scenic helicopter and seaplane flights over Whitehaven Beach and Hill Inlet promise amazing views. However you visit Whitehaven Beach, it will be the experience of a lifetime.
